Local Housing Rental Allowance Annual Rates
This fact sheet gives the rates for Local Housing Allowance in Fareham for the year commencing 1 April 2025. It also gives details of which areas these rates cover.
Local Housing Allowance is only applicable to certain new claims made after 7 April 2008. If you are unsure if this applies to you please contact us. All Local Housing Allowance claims received will be based on these rates.
Before using this you must work out how many rooms you can get an allowance for and which market area you fall under. Most PO post codes come under Portsmouth Broad Rental Market Area (BRMA) and most SO post codes come under Southampton BRMA. To ensure you are checking the correct BRMA please either visit www.gov.uk

Remember: the number of rooms includes bedrooms only and not living rooms, kitchens or bathrooms.
The shared room rate is applied if you do not have exclusive use of more than one room and you share any or all of a kitchen, a room suitable for living in and a bathroom or a toilet. This category also applies to claimants under 35 years of age.
Please note the maximum LHA rate payable is the four bedroom rate even if your household circumstances require 5 bedrooms or more.
