Street lights

The street lights along the Borough's highways are the responsibility of Hampshire County Council External Hyperlink (opens in new window). A further 500 street lights in car parks and other open spaces are the responsibility of Fareham Borough Council. All of them are maintained and repaired under contract by SSE Contracting. Most old street lights across Hampshire are being replaced by SSE Contracting as part of a refurbishment programme. An innovative system, known as CMS, will be installed. This will mean energy levels and switching times can be managed more effectively. It will enable automatic fault detection, more accurate fault reporting and improved levels of service.

Reporting a fault

If you would like to report a fault with a street light, please make a note of the number on its column and then visit 'Lights on in Hampshire' to report it online External Hyperlink (opens in new window). If you have any other queries please contact customerservicecentre@fareham.gov.uk or ring 01329 236100.
