The Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Park
The Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Park, formerly referred to as Daedalus Common, is a brand new 40-acre open space provided as a lasting commemoration to Her late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
What's there?
Located next to Solent Airport at Daedalus, the site will benefit the local community, visitors and employees that work nearby. Funding for the park has been provided by National Grid IFA2 Interconnector project as a community benefit.
It features:
- A network of accessible paths and cycle routes
- An elevated viewing area that looks across to the airfield
- Bespoke VE and VJ commemorative seats to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day and VJ Day
- The King's Coronation bench, commerorating the coronation of King Charles III in May 2023
- The Gate Guardian Sculpture, an impressive eight-metre-high sculpture depicting Daedalus.
- A memorial tree planted for the late Queen Elizabeth II using mulch from the condolence flowers that were laid by local residents
- An aviation themed children's play area, also renamed to The Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee play area. The play area is suitable for all ages and abilities, providing an inclusive multi-climbing unit suitable for wheelchair users and much more
