Youth clubs stay open thanks to fund

Young people in Fareham will continue to receive support in 2017/18 thanks to £24,405 from Fareham Borough Council's Youth Activities Fund.

Fareham Borough Council's Executive agreed to establish the Youth Activity Fund to enable open access youth centres in the Borough to continue.

Six youth centres in the Borough will share the funding which will help to provide a range of open access activities for young people. 

Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Sue Bell, said: "The Council already provide a wide range of free activities and facilities for young people to enjoy including skate parks, open spaces, SNAP Disco and summer events such as Access All Areas.

"However, it's important to us that young people also have access to groups that offer support in a fun and relaxed environment. They need somewhere safe to meet friends and to just talk about things that may be bothering them. The youth workers do a great job in helping the younger generation to grow and develop."
