Titchfield Abbey
Originally a 13th century abbey, this grand building on the outskirts of Titchfield was converted into Place House, a mansion for the Earls of Southampton. It is claimed that some of Shakespeare's plays, including 'Romeo and Juliet' and 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' were first performed here. The grand Tudor Gatehouse
dominates the remains.
