Getting to Fareham

Ferries

An image of a ship in the SolentThe continental ferry port of Portsmouth is within easy reach of Fareham and provides regular passenger and freight links to the motorway and rail networks of northern France, Spain, Jersey and Guernsey. Local ferry services, for vehicles and foot passengers, operate from Portsmouth and Southampton to the Isle of Wight. There is also a hovercraft service from Portsmouth to Ryde, Isle of Wight.

Major cruise liners such as the Queen Mary operate from Southampton (one of the UK's largest and busiest ports), while the Royal Navy uses Portsmouth as its prime base - the historic Dockyards which include HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and the Mary Rose are a 20 minute drive from the centre of Fareham. Southampton and Portsmouth have modern marina developments at Ocean Village, Port Solent and Gun Wharf. Fast car ferries to Jersey, Guernsey and Brittany operate from Poole and Weymouth in Dorset.
