Notes 1. The Freedom of Information Act 2000 provides a general right of access to information. A request must be made in writing and give a name and address for reply (this includes e-mail). The Council must respond to your request within 20 days of receipt.5. Sometimes a charge may apply. If the cost of providing the information exceeds £450, the Council will not have to comply with the request. If this is so, the Council will inform you and see what can be done within the charge limit.7. If the information you want is available elsewhere, you may be redirected to the other source.8. There are exemptions under which information can be withheld. For example, it may contain personal information about another individual. If any exemptions apply, you will be informed.9. There is a complaints procedure if you are not satisfied with the Council's response to your request, by first using the Council's own complaints procedure and then, if necessary, approaching the Information Commissioner.10.
