Details of Car Park Charges
Charges will apply between 10am and 6pm, at an hourly charge of £1.10. There is a maximum stay of 12 hours. These charges apply to the nine car parks listed below:
- Swanwick Shore Road
- Passage Lane
- Meon Shore
- Hove-To
- Shore Road
- Salterns Road
- Monks Hill
- Portchester Castle Small
- Portchester Castle Large
Charges will apply between 10am and 6pm, at an hourly charge of £1.10 Monday - Friday, and between 10am and 6pm, at £1.10 for one hour, £2.20 for four hours or £4.40 for 8 hours Saturday - Sunday. There is a maximum stay of 12 hours. These charges were introduced on 1 August 2023 and apply to the following car park only:
- Wicor Recreation Car Park
The following car parks will have a 4-hour maximum stay, with a no return within 4 hours, between 1 April and 30 September. These restrictions apply to the two car parks listed below:
- Swanwick Shore Road
- Shore Road
Coastal car parks are free to persons in possession of a valid Blue Badge. The Blue Badge must be displayed with a valid expiry date clearly visible in the windscreen. Please remember that it is only the person named on the Blue Badge who can use it.
Payment Methods
Our pay machines will accept cash, card or payment via the PayByPhone app or PayByPhone website
.
When using PaybyPhone (app or website), please use the location number, clearly displayed at the pay machine in each car park to identify the car park you are using.
Motorcyle Parking
The following Coastal car parks have a Motorcycle bay where motorcycles can park for free.
- Castle Large car park
- Monks Hill
- Salterns Road
- Hove To
- Shore Road
- Passage Lane
- Swanwick Shore
Motorcycles must be parking in the designated motorcycle bay.
Coastal Parking Permits
Coastal Parking Permits are available to purchase for £145 per year, with a concessionary rate of £95 per year for Fareham residents. Each Coastal Parking Permit will be specific to one vehicle, will be non-refundable and will be valid for one year. Lost or damaged permits will incur a £10 administration fee, but permits issued for a change of vehicle registration will be free of charge, upon return of existing permit.
Coastal Parking Permits holders will be eligible to park in all of the coastal car parks for a maximum stay of 12 or 4 hours (in line with the car park regulations). In addition, permit holders can also park for up to 14 consecutive days including overnight within the Hove-to and Passage Lane Car parks only. However, sleeping in a vehicle overnight is not permitted.
Conditions of the Coastal Parking Permit
- Permits must be displayed on the windscreen. Failure to do so may result in a PCN being issued.
- Coastal car parks include: Monks Hill, Salterns Road, Hove To, Meon Shore, Shore Road, Passage Lane, Swanwick Shore, Wicor Recreation, Castle Large and Castle Small car parks only.
- The permit must not be altered, photocopied or added to.
- A permit does not guarantee a parking space.
- Any replacement for lost or damaged permits will incur a payment of £10.
- Permits issued for a change of vehicle registration are free of charge.
- Coastal permits are vehicle specific and cannot be displayed in alternative vehicles.
- Permits are non-refundable and can only be used in the vehicle specified.
How to Apply
Coastal Parking Permits can be applied for and paid for online by setting up a MyAccount. It should take less than 10 minutes to set up a MyAccount, complete the details for the Coastal Parking Application and make payment.
If you are unable to apply online, you can apply in person at our Cash Office based on the ground floor of the Civic Offices or over the phone with our Parking Services Department by calling 01329 236100.
All permits will be issued within 7 days of receipt of a completed application.
