Environment Improvements
Improving Fareham's environment is something that the Council takes very seriously. After all, the vast majority of its staff are also residents, who want it to be the best that it can be.
The Council has committed to becoming carbon neutral across all its buildings and services by 2030 to mitigate the worst effects of climate change, and you can find more information about this here.
However, 'environment' incorporates so much more than carbon reduction. That's why the Council has produced a magazine entitled 'Fareham's Greener Future' (5 MB), which sets out the considerable work that has been put into Fareham's environment in recent years and some of the achievements the Council has made.
Fareham's Greener Future highlights the Council's effort to preserve and improve Fareham's lived-in environment. Whether that be the management and upkeep of its many green and open spaces, the preservation and expansion of wildlife habitats, or the way in which the Council goes about building and improving its housing.
Next Step
Fareham's Greener Future has been considered by the Council's Executive and it has agreed that the next step is to create a formal Environment Strategy which will guide the Council in all future decision making to continue to protect and enhance the Borough's environments for future generations.
Work on this strategy will commence immediately, for publication later this year.
