What will we do if a major incident happens?
Our small emergency management team co-ordinates our response and prepares and writes our plans. They are integrated with the plans of all other relevant agencies, such as the emergency services, neighbouring local authorities, the NHS, public utilities and voluntary agencies. We regularly liaise and test them. In the event of an emergency, we would operate a central emergency control room which is suitably equipped and staffed by trained officers. It would co-ordinates our response to:
- Support the emergency services in preserving life and property
- Provide support and care for our communities
- Help to minimise the effects of the incident
- Take the lead role on restoring our communities and environment.
To help achieve this, we will provide:
- Equipment and machinery (JCBs, transport, pumps, portable loos, temporary lighting etc)
- People (specialist and manual workers)
- Materials (aggregate, wood, fuel, weatherproofing etc)
- Facilities (buildings such as emergency reception centres).
Our emergency management team works closely with Hampshire County Council's emergency planning unit .
