What you can and can't put in your bins or garden waste bin
Refuse bin
Items to be put in your refuse bin
- General household waste
Items not to be put in your refuse bin
- Soil and rubble, including plasterboard - building waste is not household waste; it is also heavy and may break the bin. It should be disposed of at a household waste recycling centre or by hiring a skip
- Hazardous household waste, including oil and paint - see information on hazardous waste. This can be taken to a household waste recycling centre.
- No liquids can be put in the bin because they will spill out along the road
- Garden waste is banned from the bin. The Council operate a separate collection service for garden waste.
- Commercial waste; a separate collection must be arranged for business waste
- Paper, card, tins, cans, aerosols, plastic bottles - these must be put in your blue top recycling bin.
