Car Parking
Portchester Parking Today
Free parking is key to the success of Portchester Village Centre. To help us better understand your needs we carried out a parking survey in the summer of 2016 and spoke to local businesses about their parking needs. This work showed us that:
- Most people park for less than three hours but most of the spaces are long stay
- The lorry park is only well used on market day
Proposed Changes
We want to match the types of spaces available to the way people use the car park. Our proposed changes will create more free and accessible parking spaces to meet the needs of local residents and users of the Village Centre. To do this, we intend to:
- Increasing short stay spaces from 51 to 190
- Reducing long stay spaces from 194 to 85
- Introduce parent and child parking bays
- Convert the existing lorry park into car parking spaces
- Provide 6 dedicated parking spaces for Light Goods Vehicle (LGV) bays
- Improve the signage to the free Council owned car park
