Putting the village back in Portchester

Many residents have lived in Portchester all their lives and will stop to chat in the Village Centre while visiting the shops, community facilities and
popular Wednesday market. The centre is at the heart of life in Portchester and we want to make sure that it remains an attractive and vibrant area for the future.
We had previously asked for residents' opinions on a draft vision document, we had prepared. The vision identified five key areas for improvement. You can explore any that interest you by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of this page. You can also watch a video about our ideas for Portchester.
Working together
The Council has limited budgets and control over the possible improvements. We need to work together with residents, businesses and private landlords to make lasting change. Hampshire County Council own and manage the precinct area and their involvement is central to helping make the area more attractive.
Community Engagement
We held a number of consultation events in Portchester and asked people to complete a survey. Traders, landowners and community organisations also attended a business breakfast on Thursday 26 January to talk about our proposals for the village centre. You can view the Council's presentation (1 MB) to find out more.
We have analysed all of the comments given at the meeting, alongside other feedback and this has helped us develop our final vision, called 'Putting the Village Back in Portchester' (10 MB).
