Visual Appearance
How the Village Centre looks today
The majority of roads and pavements in and around the Village Centre are owned and managed by Hampshire County Council.
Portchester precinct could do with a makeover, having last been updated in the early 1990s. The surfacing in the Centre is starting to look tired and worn, with its condition not helped by the trees that have grown to a size where the roots are starting to push through. There is a lack of signage directing people to the precinct and Council car parks and the lighting columns in the precinct are not particularly attractive or well arranged.
How can the appearance of the Centre be improved?
We asked residents and businesses to tell us their priorities for improving the appearance of the precinct, the following issues have come to light:
- Improve the precinct surfaces and footpaths
- Better safe and attractive lighting
- New seating and street furniture
- Some form on children's play equipment
- Upgrade railings where needed for health and safety
- Improve signage in and around centre
