How much food do we waste?

Reducing the amount of food waste that goes into our bins could save the average family £60 a month. Of the 4.2 million tonnes of good food that gets wasted, more than half hasn't even made it onto a plate! It goes straight into the bin from our fridges or cupboards because we don't use it in time.

Many people don't think food is being wasted but once you think about the mouldy slice of bread, the droopy carrot from the back of the fridge and the dry piece of cake… it all adds up.
