Simpler Recycling 2026

'Simpler Recycling' will be introduced across the Borough from 31 March 2026 to comply with the introduction of national legislation which aims to simplify refuse and recycling disposal, so that more items can be recycled across England.

The introduction of Simpler Recycling means that there will be changes to how waste is collected in Fareham. For the first time,  food waste will be collected from the roadside each week, separate from other general waste. A wider range of recycling will also be collected, including glass, plastic, metal, paper and cardboard.

Until 31 March 2026, services will continue unaffected, and the Council will be in contact with customers in due course to ensure that the changes are implemented as simply and seamlessly as possible.
