Report a Fraud

If you have any concerns regarding fraud and corruption within or against Fareham Borough Council then please contact us as below.

Any information you provide will be treated in the strictest confidence. You do not have to give your name, but it may increase the chances of a successful investigation if you do. We would ask that you provide us with as much information about the fraud as possible, as this will enable an effective investigation to be carried out.

Benefit Fraud

If your concern is about benefit payments a person is claiming, then please use our report a benefit fraud online form. Alternatively, you can contact our fraud hotline on 01329 824667 or email investigations@fareham.gov.uk.

Complaint about the behaviour of a Councillor or employee

If you have a concern of any kind about a Councillor then please use the Member's Complaints Procedure.

If you have a concern about the behaviour of an employee, in respect of the quality of service they have delivered to you, then please use the Corporate Complaints procedure.

However, please use the corporate fraud online form below if you suspect an employee of fraud or dishonest conduct.

Any other fraud

If your concern is about any other type of fraud, then please use our corporate fraud online form. Alternatively, you can contact our fraud hotline on 01329 824667 or email us at corporatefraud@fareham.gov.uk.

Examples of concerns you may have are:

Someone not resident at their council house or sub-letting their social housing property
Someone applying to go on the housing waiting list who has lied about their circumstances
Someone claiming a council tax discount or exemption fraudulently
Someone using an altered or forged blue badge
Someone misusing their resident's parking permit
Someone who has obtained fraudulent grants to improve their home
Dishonest behaviour by a member of staff or a council contractor

Victim of Fraud

If the Fraud involves use of your credit card, then this should be reported to the card provider / bank in the first instance, who should then report it to Action Fraud External Hyperlink - Opens in new tab .
